Hoo-boy. After sitting alone for hours working on their opuses, writers must then come out of their dark caves and release their work into the wild, strategize about marketing and self promotion, become a brand, read widely to be a good literary citizen, write other things, and not say anything stupid in the process. Talk about juggling.
This week’s links will not make you feel better about any of that.

It’s not enough to be a writer these days, one reporter declares. Writers must also be Authorpreneurs. “Standing out as a book writer today requires more than a bright idea and limpid prose. Authors need to become businesspeople as well, thinking strategically about their brand, and marketing themselves and their products.”
- Ah, but what if you go too far? How much marketing is enough or too much? What is the line between self-promotion and spam? Ack!
- At least you have your warm and fuzzy writing group to console you. Or not. [insert thunderclaps here!] Perhaps hidden dangers lurk in your writing groups, too.
- All this is too much. Too much! Calm thyself with a leisurely trip to a bookstore near you to pick up one of the best books of 2015 so far.
- Oh noes! Now, you’ve gone and bought too many books. Writers, you are doomed.
