Kick-ass Characters Kick Off October Craft on Draft Event

codlogo3If you were unfortunate enough to miss Craft on Draft’s inaugural event in April, here’s your chance to get in on the Coolest Reading Series in the World. The event in April was a sold-out (tickets are free) fun gathering of readers and writers held at Trident Booksellers on Newbury Street, a convivial space for food, drink, and friends.

On Tuesday October 7, 2014 Craft on Draft presents its second reading, CREATING KICK-ASS CHARACTERS, also at Trident beginning at 6:30 PM. Admission is still free, though donations are accepted for the Novel Incubator Scholarship Fund.

Authors E.B. Moore, Jennie Wood, and Kate Racculia will read and discuss their own unforgettable characters, trait by trait, from first draft to final.

E.B. Moore, in her debut novel, An Unseemly Wife, gives stunning and palpable energy to a 19th-century Amish woman in her journey to find a new life.

Jennie Wood, graphic novelist, author of the Flutter series, brings into dazzling focus the maturation of young Peyton as he discovers his true self in her debut novel, A Boy Like Me.

Kate Racculia, in her second novel, Bellweather Rhapsody, casts the Bellweather Hotel in the Catskills as a central character inhabited by an ensemble of eccentrics-turned-sleuths as they search for clues to the fate of the missing flautist.

Want to get in on the action? Bring a character-revealing page (maximum 250 words) from your short story or novel. One lucky audience member will have their entry read aloud and discussed by the authors. The winner receives a free GrubStreet pint glass and a drink- purchased by our own Michelle Hoover, Novel Incubator instructor—as well as possible love, wealth, and fame.

Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-lifetime chance to commune with other readers and writers, meet the authors, and discover the secrets of creating kick-ass characters. For more information, visit us at Craft on Draft or RSVP to the event on Facebook. See you there.
